International Economic Summit

“The International Economic Summit was one of the most challenging and fun learning experiences in which I’ve participated.”
- Gray Battson

Our students, who were economic advisors for a day, participated in Idaho’s version of an International Economic Summit in December. The members from North Korea, Kara Cain, Gray Battson, Mike Smith and Clinton Camphouse, did exceptionally well. These seniors from Idaho City High School finished in a strong 6th Place while competing against nearly 500 other economics students comprising over 140 different countries. The participating students came from throughout the state and even from as far away as southern California. The summit is a mock simulation game sponsored by the Idaho Council on Economic Education, and it is based on the students’ knowledge of their chosen country and their ability to trade resources in the global marketplace with other students from other countries. The goal is to increase their individual country’s standard of living. Globalization, trade, and economic growth are parts of the curriculum for all economics students at ICHS.
